Can Flonase Help Me To Control My Allergy Symptoms?

Flonase: How does it work?

Flonase is a nasal spray that belongs to a family of drugs called corticosteroids and is used to help with the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. This is not medication that begins to work after the first dose and in some cases people may not feel the difference anywhere from 3 days up to several weeks.

What Are The Possible Side Effects?

The list here is long and they range from moderate to severe and if you experience any of these side effects you should contact your prescribing Dr. immediately if  it is not a serious situation, however if you experience some of the more serious side effects listed below you should go to an emergency room.

  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Sleeplessness
  • Panic Attacks
  • Heart Palpitations
  • Migraines
  • Depression
  • Chronic cough
  • Nosebleeds
  • Altering of senses (taste, smell, vision)
  • Nightmares

As you can see some of these symptoms and side effects are pretty average and seem to be a possibility of taking many medications, however, there are many people out there who have decided that the side effects that they experienced just are not worth the relief they found with this medication and therefore have chosen to stop taking Flonase.

Conclusion

As with any medication, you just never know if it will be the one that brings you the relief you are seeking and there are risks with any new drug that you introduce to your body. Before you buy any drug it is a good idea that you do research on it to make sure you are clear as to what side effects you need to be aware of. A Doctor can write the order for Flonase however it does not mean that it will work for you. In many cases people do find relief and are happy with Flonase as they have not gone through some of the horrible side effects listed here. It is always best to discuss any questions you might have about a new medication with your doctor while you’re in the office and before you leave to buy it. Perhaps this way you can decide ahead of time what side effects are worth the allergy relief, and what side effects are not.
